Located near Clear Lake, Mossycup Farms raises heritage breed pork, free-range geese, ducks, quail, and chickens using organic feed and pasture-based practices. Owner and operator Laura has built a thoughtful farm business rooted in transparency, animal care, and exceptional food. In addition to meat and eggs, the farm also produces culinary lard and handmade lard soaps.
When Laura mentioned she was ready for a website redesign, I was immediately in. Mossycup already had a website, but it needed a modern update and a storefront that could support how the farm actually sells its products.
Because the farm already uses Square to manage inventory, we integrated Square with WooCommerce to power a custom-built online store. The system allows Laura to manage inventory through the tools she already uses while giving customers an easy way to shop online.
One of the most exciting pieces of the project was building an interactive recipe system that connects directly to the farm store. Customers can browse recipes, learn how to cook with Mossycup products, and move directly from the recipe to the ingredients in the storefront. It creates a seamless path from inspiration to purchase while helping customers get more value from the food they buy.
The biggest technical challenge was logistics. Some Mossycup products ship nationwide, some only within a regional area, and others are available through local delivery routes, farm pickup, or the on-farm store. The storefront had to account for all of these different sales channels while keeping the shopping experience simple for customers.
Projects like this are one of my favorite parts of the work: translating the real-world logistics of a farm business into a digital system that works for both the farmer and their customers.
